Every year I go some place I have never been to before. In 2007 it was Montreal and Vancouver in Canada. This year 2008, just before my birthday in July I went to Macau, the casino paradise of Asia, with Mama and Tita Inday who was on vacation in Manila from Chicago.

Ingrid Santamaria and friends organized a piano concert for Madame Imelda Marcos on July 6,2008 a few days after her birthday on July 2. The Friends for Cultural Concerns members attended the soiree led by Board Directors Minerva Tanseco and Letty Hahn.

Climbing Mt.Fuji

Col.Dan Estropia Mt.Fuji sunrise 17 Aug 08.

I wish it were me up there but its not. My friend Col.Dan Estropia, the military attache to Japan & his son trekked up Mt. Fuji over the weekend on Aug.17,2008. They stayed overnight at a hut with other hikers It took them two days,& US$150 each only.At the top at 2,300 meters above sea level, at dawn, they had a magnificent view as they waited for the sunrise. Dan said he also got altitude sickness even though he trained for a couple of months for the trek.Fujisan's summit is 3,776 meters high,climbing season is from July-August.Check out this link if you want to give it a try.

Oct.22,2008 Fire burned the Captain's Bar of the Mandarin Oriental with their fiery and intense performance. Ana Rivera and Soraya were back singing but for one night only. Lia Garcia-Lomax, Lilith de Leon and I with friends were there to cheer them. Gosh its been almost ten years since they last performed. Ana, Soraya, Lia & I use to see each other every day cause we lived right around the corner or down the street from each other. Love you babes. My sister Cynch Gubler turned a year "younger" October 6,2008 and the Fabulous Ferrer sisters plus mother, helped her celebrate at a champagne and buffet lunch at the Heat of Shangrila Edsa Hotel. It was a girls only lunch as we toasted to her health, beauty and wealth with champagne Moet et Chandon and ginger ale. And we added a cryptic toast -Sila anay bag-o kita.
