Climate Reality 24 hrs of Reality- I was there
I was glued for some of the 24 hrs to the Climate Reality live streaming (Seept 14-15 2011) and I was on twitter like the 8.6 million viewers that watched the event by the time Chairman Al Gore finished his presentation at hour 24.I took screencaps to meme my twits on Sept 15,2011. Real solutions, systemic solutions, innovative solutions, can only come when we address it together. That’s what The Climate Reality Project will do. Without doubt. Without delay. And with your help.
The Climate Reality Project is bringing the facts about the climate crisis into the mainstream and engaging the public in conversation about how to solve it. We help citizens around the world discover the truth and take meaningful steps to bring about change.
Founded and chaired by Al Gore, Nobel Laureate and former Vice President of the United States, The Climate Reality Project has more than 5 million members and supporters worldwide. It is guided by one simple truth: The climate crisis is real and we know how to solve it.
The Event
WHAT IS 24 HOURS OF REALITY?
24 Presenters. 24 Time Zones. 13 Languages. 1 Message. 24 Hours of Reality is a worldwide event to broadcast the reality of the climate crisis. It will consist of a new multimedia presentation created by Al Gore and delivered once per hour for 24 hours, representing every time zone around the globe. Each hour people living with the reality of climate change will connect the dots between recent extreme weather events — including floods, droughts and storms — and the manmade pollution that is changing our climate. We will offer a round-the-clock, round-the-globe snapshot of the climate crisis in real time. The deniers may have millions of dollars to spend, but we have a powerful advantage. We have reality.
WHEN IS 24 HOURS OF REALITY?
24 Hours of Reality will be broadcast live online from September 14 to 15, over 24 hours, representing 24 time zones and 13 languages.
WHERE IS 24 HOURS OF REALITY?
From Tonga to Cape Verde, Mexico City to Alaska, Jakarta to London, people living with the impacts of climate change every day will tell their story. You can experience as much as you like without even leaving your home. Click here to find the location — or locations — where you would like to watch a presentation. Due to logistical considerations, three of the presentations will be broadcast remotely from New York — Tonga, the Solomon Islands and French Polynesia — but will include local footage and information. All other presentations will be filmed on location around the world.
IS 24 HOURS OF REALITY SUSTAINABLE?
We hope 24 Hours of Reality will inspire global action to solve the climate crisis. And that’s why we have also made every effort to reduce this event’s environmental impact. By using an online viewing portal, we are encouraging a worldwide audience to participate without incurring the carbon emissions associated with travel. We have implemented sustainable event standards which focus on the following key areas: transportation, waste diversion (through recycling and composting), sustainable procurement, production and materials, and green office techniques. By implementing these standards, 24 Hours of Reality will do all that it can to reduce its overall carbon footprint.

Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki, founder of David Suzuki Foundation, writes about the reality show that is worth watching.
"Here's an online show that will reflect what is happening in and to our world" 24 hours of Reality will feature 24 presenters in 24 time zones talking about the climate crisis in 13 languages. It starts Sept 14 at 7 P.M. in Mexico City and wraps with a live multimedia presentation from New York City by Nobel laureate and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore at 7 P.M. on Sept. 15."

Commit to stopping climate change in 2011 & onwards
Another year ends, another one begins, the year of the Rabbit, my chinese zodiac sign. This year like I've been doing since I was 8 years old I write down in a new page of a notebook backed up by a digital copy ( its the 21st century after all) the endless possibilities open to me as another brand new year begins. I love new beginnings. I am committed to stopping climate change. My friends & I with the Edgar Cayce Study group have been monitoring earth changes since the late 1980's as contained in Cayce's readings supplemented by the earth changes reportage of Gordon Michael Scallion. We've shared the readings, the future maps & what can one do about it, with others outside of the study group, have talked about it on radio programs, and given power point presentations of global warming tied up to the spiritual, to groups that have invited us. I'm supporting as a volunteer, member and/or donor Greenpeace Philippines, Partido Kalikasan, the emerging green party of the Philippines and M.I.S.S.I.O.N the environmental networking group that Nicanor Perlas and his followers set up to cascade to society & implement the political platform he espoused when he ran for president in 2010. In the last quarter of 2010 I started broadening my green and wellness advocacy by proactively helping people shift their paradigm from the usage of chemicals to going natural.
In the book "The Buddhist Response to Climate Change" edited by John Stanley, David R.Lory and Dorje Guyure ( available at National Bookstore Shangrila Mall for P819), one of my favorite people
His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote "Eminent scientests have said that global warming is dangerous for our future as nuclear war. We have entered the uncharted territory of a global emergency where, "business as usual cannot continue". We might must take the initiative to repair and protect this world, ensuring a safe climate future for all people and all species. It is now urgent that we take corrective action to ensure a safe climate future for coming generations of human beings and other species."
David de Rothschild in his book "The Live Earth-Global Warming Survival Handbook" (P669 at National Bookstore Shangrila Mall) offers 77 essential skills to stop climate change and live through it. Here are ten easy steps plus some more to jumpstart our committment to stopping climate change and global warming. For starters, take a baby step, just do one and stick to it.
COMMIT! Do something ! Just do it!
Say no to plastic bags. Bring your own bag (BYOB) when you go shopping, to the grocery, to the mall, to the market. Bags from organic and natural materials as well as nylons and non-woven materials or made from recycled materials are now available in all shapes and colors, some small enough to fit in one's purse.
Shop locally. Less fuel is used because products do not have to be transported long distances.
Change a lightbulb to the energy saving ones, they also last longer.
Simple lang. Unplug. Stop appliances from stand-by modes, that silently eat up energy.
Bring your own mug. Ask that take out food not be stored in styrofoam.
Go public. Yes, take the LRT, MRT or the bus or jeep. Car pool.
Walk or bike.
Take shorter showers or better yet with someone.
Plant a tree. More oxygen, more shade, more roots to stop erosion.
Use organic, natural, biodegradable cleaning solutions, laundry detergent that contain no chemicals.

Greenpeace-Turn the Tide for Climate Change
Umuulan sa Tag-Araw
“Umuulan sa Tag-araw” is a song about climate change composed by Noel
Cabangon and donated to environmental activist organization, Greenpeace, to
help in the advocacy of its Climate and Energy program.
The original recording, with Noel doing all the vocals, was released in 2008
by Greenpeace with an accompanying music video.
This latest recording, with various Greenpeace volunteer bands and
musicians, is being released to coincide with the visit of the Greenpeace
flagship, the Rainbow Warrior, to the Philippines on November 19-28, as the
last leg of its “Turn the Tide” tour of Southeast Asia, showcasing solutions
to the challenge of climate change. The tour also coincides with the 10th
anniversary celebration of the regional Greenpeace Southeast Asia office,
which started in the Philippines.
A “Turn the Tide” concert will be held on November 27, during the Manila leg
of the ship tour, at the CCP grounds. The song will be performed live by a
conglomeration of musicians from different bands.

Greenpeace will have an open boat day on the Rainbow Warrior this Sunday June 1, 2008 from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. The boat will be docked at Pier 13 at the Asian Terminals ,South Harbor near Manila Hotel.

Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior passes by the coal ship Sam John Spirit as it exits the Pagbilao coal-fired power plant pier in Quezon Province, 150 kilometers south of Manila. Activists from the Rainbow Warrior May 25,2008 painted the side of the bulk carrier with the words "Quit Coal." The environment group called off its peaceful protest at the coal plant today, assured that it has initiated strong political movement toward a moratorium on expansion of coal power in the Philippines through a resolution in the Senate. Coal-fired power plants are the single biggest source of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and a major cause of climate change. Greenpeace is calling on the Philippine government to instead tap the massive potential of clean, safe, renewable energy.
