Partido Kalikasan's stand on MTPDP 2011-2015- NO GO!

OFFICIAL STATEMENT30 March 2011

PARTIDO KALIKASAN does not welcome the adoption of the Medium Term Philippine Development Plan (2011-2016) in its current form.

We believe that with its continued focus on further natural resource utilization; like large scale commercial mining and its insufficient goals and strategies for food self-sufficiency and sustainable development of our marine and coastal resources, the current formulation of the MTPDP negates its very declared goal of inclusive development .

In the face of continuing ravages of climate change impacts, the mode of development that the country must take is that of conservation, protection and rehabilitation and not further utilization of our natural patrimony.

While we welcome targets for continued infastructure development, improved financing; with the current emergency mode brought about by the ill effects of climate change impacts, these must now be channeled to improving our resiliency to natural disasters, reducing risk and overall adoption to climate change.

The high annual development growth rate target of 7-8% will drive the need for cheap but very dirty energy sources like coal fired power plants that will negate the national policy to move to renewable energy sources.

Social equity strategies and goals that remain dependent on dole-out systems such as conditional cash transfers will only be effective in the short-term but will be unsustainable in the long term. The current MTPDP have more of this short-term social safety nets and remain weak on the more fundamental asset reform requirements. 

What we need is stronger political support to the completion of agrarian reform and making agrarian reform communities economically viable; long-term solution to the plight of informal settlers; municipal water delineation; building the institutional capacity of agencies tasked at upholding IP rights to their ancestral domain and the further strengthening of community-based forest management.

Earth Hour March 26 for Planet Earth

Hellllloo earthlings. A gentle reminder from The Green Shop, M.I.S.S.I.O.N and Partido Kalikasan. On saturday, March 26, 2011 from 8:30-9:30 P.M. pls turn off your lights for an hour.Remember that Planet Earth is our only home, lets love it and save it. Lets minimize our carbon footprint, lets take a stand against climate change. lets live an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.I'm going beyond the hour for another hour on saturday. It will  just be me on the internet in the dark for another hour. Like Greenpeace advocates- Simple lang, turn it off, unplug, when you're not using it! Oh and while you're at it, why not dance in the dark, to the music from the spheres! Happy earth hour!

About Earth Hour

"At 8:30 PM on Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour. If we go beyond the hour, imagine what we can achive. 

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries/territories participating. Why I want to be a drummer for a rock band or maybe just date one!No Min Woo-Heartbeat

This random video of korean actor No Min Woo on the drums playing to the beat of korean beast idols' 2PM- Heartbeat is the reason I want to be a drummer for a rock band. Well is it too late to just date one? Don't miss .10-.28 seconds of the video, the hottest 10 seconds ever that I replayed on a loop. Lol. I did take drumming lessons and I have this drum back in my storage that I bought for US$100 ten years ago. The year I spent jamming intermittently with my other drumming colleagues was pretty intense.Not that I was good at it! Now with my decaled french tipped nails, I kinda just tap on the drum once in a while to reminisce. No Min Woo was Rose of Trax, an indie rock band in Korea that is now mainstream. Min Woo left the band and transitioned into an actor in such dramas as My girlfriend is a gumiho, Pasta and rock rock rock all of which I have not watched. But now I'm watching this kdrama called Midas just for him. The movie is all about money and how greed makes one forget one's good intentions. Ok so what else is new? Oh did I mention No Min woo plays the guitar and the piano, sings and dances too. Talk about multitasking! Yeah yeah, its one of those days! * goes back to watching the video*

Major Pimp Post-Jin Akanishi Eternal Boy

This pimp post is really not major major I just wanted to meme about Jin Akanishi's first solo debut single Eternal and its couple song Murasaki. I got my cd today with the PV DVD and Making of PV from Yesasia thanks to my fangurl friend Katz and Ureshi doesn't quite describe my emotional state. Holding the cd and staring at the unique back shot cover, totally wiped out my stress over the major car trouble I encountered today!

I really love the song Eternal from the moment I heard the fanrecording of the song when Yamapi and Jin sang it together at Yamapi's concert last year. It was my jam and playing on a loop when a clearer version of it was fanrecorded at one of Jin's US live last year. Its so beautiful and haunting even if one doesn't know Japanese, the piano driven ballad just makes one cry especially when Jin sings it with so much passion. With the japanese lyrics translated into english it takes on deeper meaning. For me Jin Akanishi is one of Johnny Jimusho's greatest talents. Hell yeah,  I'm gonna go for, one of the great talents in the japanese entertainment industry. Johnny Kitagawa the impressario has this radar for talents and when 14 year old  Jin handed his name tag back to the old man when Jin failed the auditions, the old man told him to go back. And the rest is jpop history.  Akanishi is definitely eye candy, really gorgeous though shy until he stands on stage and he just morphs into this awesome entertainer. Jin writes the lyrics to the songs whose music he composes and he also does some of the arrangements. He sings, plays the guitar, drums and piano, is an actor , a voice actor, a dancer and a producer. He's got a wild imagination that's totally ahead of his time. How else can he come up with the concept of Yellow Gold tour 3011. The Jinius is a man from the future. And Jin speaks english so his international fan base is really expanding. And I like how he does things at his own pace!  I love how the PV is all about Jin singing Eternal with nothing else to distract one from its simplicity and beauty. But enough of my fangurl spazz!

“Going at my own pace. That is something that would never change. If it’s not in this way, I don’t think I would be able to do it.”

Akanishi Jin (26) who is releasing his solo debut single “Eternal” on the 2nd of March, expressed his current feelings. From going abroad to study alone while he was in KAT-TUN, to the withdrawal, and now solo debut…..this is probably the Akanishi-styled way of living.

“This song, was something I made 4 years ago, it was a song to celebrate the anniversaries of my relatives such as my parents’ wedding anniversary or birthdays. 
To make this as my debut song is a present to my fans as there seemed to be many comments asking to release that song.” 
After going solo, he said “Fans are part of the performers as well” and with that, all the names of the audience who went for the concert were shown on the screen. This might be a gesture of him showing his gratefulness towards the fans’ support? 

When he was asked to leave a message to the readers, “Please watch over me warmly just like how you would see your own son” giving a shy laugh after the message. 
Due to his America debut in summer, his current life revolves around traveling in and out of Japan. “There are too many things to do, that I don’t even have the time to be excited or anything like that, it does not even feel realistic to me. But basically, I am very slow to feeling this sort of things. About life in America, though I have gotten used to it but about the food……” seeming totally like a teenager who is obsessed with tasty rice balls.

- About 'Eternal' -

'Eternal' was made because I wanted to make a song to sing on anniversaries. That was the intuition. All different kinds of anniversaries, birthdays, wedding anniversaries… to look back onto important things that happened .

 About 'Eternal' PV -

The PV of 'Eternal' is very simple.
I thought it should reflect exactly how the song goes. How it turned out to be a back-shot photo was due to inspiration, as well as the lighting and the image of me writing. This is how it turned up in my head.

Akanishi Jin tops Oricon Weekly Singles Chart

It was revealed today that Akanishi Jin is #1 on the March 14th edition of the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart with his solo debut single “Eternal.”

In just the first week alone, Akanishi sold 217,000 copies of his single, marking the first time a solo artist’s first week sales exceeded 200,000 in 2 years (the last time was in 2009 when Yusuke’s “Himawari” sold 219,000 copies).

Akanishi takes the top spot from the March 7th chart’s #1, Arashi, who are his seniors from the same agency.

Commit to stopping climate change in 2011 & onwards

Another year ends, another one begins, the year of the Rabbit, my chinese zodiac sign. This year like I've been doing since I was 8 years old I write down in a new page of a notebook backed up by a digital copy ( its the 21st century after all) the endless possibilities open to me as another brand new year begins. I love new beginnings. I am committed to stopping climate change. My friends & I with the Edgar Cayce Study group have been monitoring earth changes since the late 1980's as contained in Cayce's readings supplemented by the earth changes reportage of Gordon Michael Scallion. We've shared the readings, the future maps & what can one do about it, with others outside of the study group, have talked about it on radio programs, and given power point presentations of global warming tied up to the spiritual, to groups that have invited us. I'm supporting as a volunteer, member and/or donor Greenpeace Philippines, Partido Kalikasan, the emerging green party of the Philippines and M.I.S.S.I.O.N the environmental networking group that Nicanor Perlas and his followers set up to cascade to society & implement the political platform he espoused when he ran for president in 2010. In the last quarter of 2010 I started broadening my green and wellness advocacy by proactively helping people shift their paradigm from the usage of chemicals to going natural.

In the book "The Buddhist Response to Climate Change" edited by John Stanley, David R.Lory and Dorje Guyure ( available at National Bookstore Shangrila Mall for P819), one of my favorite people 

His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote "Eminent scientests have said that global warming is dangerous for our future as nuclear war. We have entered the uncharted territory of a global emergency where, "business as usual cannot continue". We might  must take the initiative to repair and protect this world, ensuring a safe climate future for all people and all species. It is now urgent that we take corrective action to ensure a safe  climate future for coming generations of human beings and other species."

David de Rothschild in his book "The Live Earth-Global Warming Survival Handbook" (P669 at National Bookstore Shangrila Mall) offers 77 essential skills to stop climate change and live through it. Here are ten easy steps plus some more to jumpstart our  committment to stopping climate change and global warming. For starters, take a baby step, just do one and stick to it.

COMMIT! Do something ! Just do it!

Say  no to plastic bags. Bring your own bag (BYOB) when you go shopping, to the grocery, to the mall, to the market. Bags from organic and natural materials as well as nylons and non-woven materials or made from recycled materials are now available in all shapes and colors, some small enough to fit in one's purse.

Shop locally. Less fuel is used because products do not have to be transported long distances.

Change a lightbulb to the energy saving ones, they also last longer.

Simple lang. Unplug. Stop appliances from stand-by modes, that silently eat up energy.

 

Bring your own mug. Ask that take out food not be stored in styrofoam.

Go public. Yes, take the LRT, MRT or the bus or jeep. Car pool.

Walk or bike. 

Take shorter showers or better yet with someone.

Plant a tree. More oxygen, more shade, more roots to stop erosion.

Use organic, natural, biodegradable cleaning solutions, laundry detergent that contain no chemicals.
