Quote of the Day-At the summit of perfection by Thomas Merton

Quote of the day- Thomas Merton Entering the Silence diary entries 1941-1952 page 477 entry for June 1952 Octave of Christ

At the summit of perfection we come upon this paradox that we cannot love God perfectly except by perfectly loving ourselves. We love ourselves perfectly only when we love ourselves as He loves us. Perfect love reestablishes in us the true likeness of God in whose image we were created.”

Thank you my friend Benjy Bagadion for giving me the book.

Thomas Merton (31 January 1915 – 10 December 1968) was one of the most influential Catholic writers of the 20th century. A Trappist monk of the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani, in the U.S. state of Kentucky, Merton was a prolific poet, a social activist, a student of comparative religion as well as the author of numerous acclaimed works on spirituality. He wrote more than 60 books, scores of essays and reviews, and is the subject of several biographies. Merton was a keen proponent of inter-religious understanding, engaging in spiritual dialogues with the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh and D. T. Suzuki.
