All over the Philippines, countless men and women are leading extraordinary lives of heroes - working on their calling, helping and supporting their communities, living exemplary lives in ordinary circumstances. Whether supporting advocacies on environmental activism, peace and conflict resolution, human rights protection, youth and women empowerment, health and wellness promotion, education, cultural appreciation and others, these individuals are dedicating their lives in creating the future they want, a country shaped, shared and protected with others.
Just who are these Filipinos? What are their initiatives? How did their journey in becoming an Imaginal Hero unfold?
MISSION Manila has mapped out their heroic feats in partnership with Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City, The Goodwill Group of Companies, Earth Flora,The Green Shop, 4Life and Ataman Coop.
Lakbayani is a celebration of projects and initiatives of the countless Filipino heroes. The aim is to bring the good news, that there are Filipino heroes working in the grassroots, building a better country, a better world, through their work in business, politics and culture. May their stories inspire others to start living a hero’s life, in their own way.
The maiden leg of Lakbayani will be held on 24–28 October, 2011 in Brgy. San Antonio, Pasig City. Presentations, lectures, photo and video exhibits and bazaars will introduce their local initiatives on gender development, environmental awareness, disaster and emergency preparedness and health and wellness. A community cultural night will cap the festival on 28 October.

LAKBAYANI is a MISSION Manila initiative. Founded in 2010, MISSION which stands for Movement of Imaginals for Sustainable Societies through Initiatives, Organizing and Networking, is a cultural, spiritual, scientific movement of individuals in civil society, government, and business. On the basis of profound inner transformation, MISSION aims to create a better country, a better world. MISSION has active members and network nodes in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Dumaguete, General Santos , Baguio and a fledgling international node in Germany.
